Stian Hagen

"Skiin’" Stian is a head shorter than most of the other pro skiers in the world nowadays; but the mountains he descends, the lines he rips and the cliffs he drops are much bigger. A decade ago, the young and hungry Norwegian packed his bags for Chamonix and has been going big ever since. As a ripe young 20- year old, he skied the super-steep North Face of the Aiguille du Midi, and this set the stage as to where he intended to take his skiing.

Stian’s gone on to ski most of the classic and steep lines in the Chamonix Valley, and has etched a name for himself among the elite in the international freeride scene. After successful descents of the East Face of the Matterhorn, and a few 6000m peaks in South America, he secured sponsorship from Helly Hansen outerwear and was on his way as a pro rider.

It’s not like he’s just a technical ski-alpinist in the traditional respect. Stian is a ripping freerider with smooth style and solid skills; he can ski fast and hard and stomp landings with the best of them. Photos of him dropping into the steep and deep in Alaska and throughout the Alps can be seen in ski mags on both sides of the pond, and he’s laid down solid film segments with Matchstick Productions and Wink, Inc. Films.

And since he’s a bit shorter than the rest of the posse, it just means he’ll be getting more face-shots in the powder! He recently finished his courses and is now a certified UIMGA mountain guide, so if you’re ever in Cham and looking for a guide to show you the goods, Stian’s the man!
