David Sanabria Aparicio
David Sanabria comes from Val d'Aran, a small valley in the Catalonia region of Spain, high in the Pyrenees Mountains, and adjacent to the freeride mecca of Baquiera-Beret. This is the only valley in Spain that lies in the Atlantic weather flow, and because of this, receives the most snow. A product of his environment: great terrain and great snow-David is logically one of Spain's top freeriders
He began skiing at age 4 (which is unusual for Spanish kids)and was soon skiing off-piste with his father. He went through an early phase as a snowboarder, and those years formed his freeride style on skis- big turns, lots of speed and huge cliff drops. He spent 7 seasons as a Ski Patroller in Baquiera-Beret ski area, honing his skills and learning every inch of the mountain, but switched over to a Pisten-Bully driver, so he could work at night and have everyday free to ski for himself.
David is presently studying to become a Mountain Guide, and also climbs and kayaks at the same extremely advanced level. From big walls in Patagonia to first descents down wild whitewater in Eastern Europe, David is always in the fast lane.
But skiing is where his passion lies, especially freeriding powder and first descents, which he's done lots of at home in the Pyrenees. Check out Video page to see David in action in Spain.
