Outside of the mountainous metropolis of Davos, sits the high, idyllic village of Monstein. Surrounded by majestic peaks and the High Ducan glacier, this is the place where Chrigi grew up, and he grew up on skis. A son to energetic parents that both ski passionately, it was only natural for him to take to the snow. Davos is home to 7 ski areas, so it’s been a part of his upbringing and he’s been charging since he can remember.
While still in his teens, Chrigi noticed the Von Ballmoos brothers from the Fullmoons ski shop telemarking through the endless powder of Davos, and he mounted cables on his skis and has been free-heeling ever since. And it was this transition to telemark skiing that really opened his eyes to the potential of terrain in his pristine corner of the world.
Just being a little stronger and more adventurous than the average skiers in town was all he needed to take that step into the backcountry. From ripping all the untracked in-bounds on those deep days, to skinning and hiking up every peak in sight, Chrigi makes free-heeling look as fun and fluid as it possible can. With fat skis under his tele-bindings, he’s skiing fast and furious and dropping cliffs that make most alpine skiers drop their jaws. If there’s anyone out there to totally utilize and stress-test our line of telemark bindings, this is the guy.
